Chapter ending Exam Preparation Tasks sections help drill you on key concepts you must know thoroughly and help increase your speed in answering questions, a difficult hurdle many candidates face on the new exams. Final Preparation chapters guide you through tools and resources to help you craft your final study plan. Special troubleshooting sections help you master the complex scenarios you will face on the exam.

Attendance

Attendance is required. The course objectives and the accompanying lab assignments are extensive and will require the student to be committed to regular attendance. If a student is not in attendance on the day a grade is taken, a zero is entered in the grade book. Although grades for missed labs, study guide assignments and quizzes assigned during class time cannot be changed, the student is responsible for the skills covered. Arrange to get class notes from another student. If a student finds it necessary to miss class, lab time should rescheduled to gain the vital skills needed to pass chapter exams, the final exam, and the Skills-Based Final. Scheduling lab time is solely the responsibility of the student.

Grade Descriptions:

Online Exams are administered through the Cisco Networking Academy’s Assessment Server. The tests assess the student’s mastery of material covered in the corresponding chapter  including labs and activities (if applicable). PT Skills Exams are normally similar to the PT Skills Integration Challenge Activity at the end of the chapter. Online Chapter Exams and PT Skills Exams are proctored and must be taken on the scheduled day. If a student is absent the day of an exam, a 20 point grade reduction will be entered in the student's gradebook and the exam must be taken during the next available class. There are no exceptions to this policy.

You must be in attendance to receive a grade when Labs, Study Guides, Quizzes, or Packet Tracer activies are assigned. Labs focus on mastery of skills and are a crucial component in achieving the objectives of the course. In preparation for labs, students can work through the activities in the curriculum. Study Guide pages will be assigned from the required text to help integrate necessary knowledge and skills. Quizzes will be administered by the Instructor to measure student progress in achieving the objectives covered by the Online Chapter Exams. Students can expect a quiz at any time. Packet Tracer activities will be assigned. The student is expected to complete all Packet Tracer activities available in the online curriculum as well as the Study Guide.

The Online Final Exam is administered by Cisco and comprehensively assesses the student’s mastery of the material covered in the corresponding course.

The Skills-Based Assessment (SBA) provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate mastery of the objectives covered in the course. The SBA can be a combination of written, oral, and demonstration exercises. Students may only use a bound notebook as a resource during the SBA. The SBA may be done individually or by a team of no more than two students.
